A visit

I took Sterling, Havilah and Bristol to Lacey and Brandon's house at the beginning of August to spend a week out there while Mom and Dad were away. It was fun to hang out at the ranch house they just moved into, and a big treat to attend church on Sunday morning!

Lacey made a snickers ice cream cake on my birthday, complete with 23 candles. I wonder how many more years people will put the right number of candles on my cake? :)

Havilah and Bristol husked corn for supper.

Lacey babysits a five-month old girl, Hannah. Havilah enjoyed taking care of her, and Hannah is a lively delight!

A random shot of Lacey's hands.

Thanks for having us out, Lace and Brandon!

Surprise Birthday Party

For my birthday that was at the beginning of the month, my friend Mardel did a surprise birthday party last Thursday. I knew something was very suspicious when she stuck me in the pickup and blindfolded me!

It's a very unnerving experience to ride in a vehicle while blindfolded.

Once the pickup was stopped I tried to get out but didn't make it very far without someone to hold on to.

The first stop we made was at Diane Sanford's, a massage therapist who gave me my very first massage. It felt wonderful!

Then it was off to Round Two Clothing, were Leta, Trey and Heidi Connell fitted me with two new outfits.

In the dressing room, trying on options...
After that, Mardel took me to the local motel, where there was a pampering candlelight bubble bath waiting for me. It felt so good to relax.

Trey is my 2-year-old shadow. He came with us for several of the stops.

Next destination...I wasn't sure at the time. Try reaching to knock on a door when you can't see it!

Heidi, Lydia and Jesse Connell (with fake teeth) were waiting with balloons and my very favorite appetizer...

"tootsie rolls," a copycat from Whiskey Creek's menu. Heidi made up the recipe and they ended up exactly like the original!

Then we went to Eddie and Virginia Steele's place, where Virginia had prepared fresh sweet corn and vegetables. It was fun to relax and play games.

And last but not least, we ended up at Cole and Jenny Leach's, where they had prepared our main course. Baby Beau welcomed me....

...as did his sisters, Audrey and Laura. The meal was wonderful!

Thank you all for making my 23rd birthday so special!

EvaLynn Jo

This week I had the opportunity to take care of Lorraine, Cecilia and Samantha Wonch while their new baby sister was brought into the world! EvaLynn Jo arrived on Friday, August 15th. She's an adorable, content little girl and adds a lot of joy to her family!

As for Lorraine, Cecilia and Samantha...well, let's just say they have a place all their own in my heart.
